How much can you do with two sentences? Here are five very short stories.
The sunrise that morning was the most beautiful she had ever seen. With the clear pure light on her eyelids, the assassin began walking slowly across the desert.

The doorway he had summoned was a portal to a new world, full of unknown dangers and bellowing creatures. He stared at the vile-smelling, smoky vapours with a heavy heart and took a running leap over the threshold.

Moonbeams pierced the shattered roof of the crypt, as the young woman walked fearfully over the flagstones. She found the coffin and climbed inside, thankful she had reached shelter before dawn.

“I really wouldn’t do that,” the tall gentleman sighed, as the knife-wielding thugs surrounded him in the grim, soot-stained alley. Three minutes later, the vampire regretfully stepped over their inert bodies.

“It was here,” she said to her companion, looking at the rebuilt city square, the rubble and destruction of the war now long-forgotten. The two ghosts smiled sadly, linked arms and mingled among the tourists.

These are bloody hard, I have tried them myself. Great job. I like the last one in particular
The last one was my favourite too 🙂 Writing flash was a great help to my short story skills, so writing micro may help my flash fiction! Stories are getting smaller and smaller in this digital age!!
It’s the ultimate expression of less equals more, which is a very good technique to get a handle of no matter what the length of your project so I totally agree!
Excellent work here! I know how hard these are, having tried them a few times myself. I hope you continue to write them.
Thank you! I found it lots of fun to write them, so there may indeed be more soon!
Very well done! I love the third one…I want more!
Thanks Lindsay! I’ve seen other bloggers do this, and it’s really fun once you start. No time for writer’s block – just let your imagination go!
The girl in the crypt would have an interesting tale to tell 🙂
Tell it! Tell it 🙂
All stories sound really interesting. I’m curious now. Tell us more, please 🙂
Thank you! There may be indeed be more!
Very nice. I really liked #3.
Thanks! 3. has created some interest! I like the concept of these micro-tales. They kickstart creativity!
They’re all wonderful and it seems like fun. I may have to give it a go.
Who knows, a hundred years from now, when our attention spans have been whittled to nothing, these could be full length novels 🙂
Yes, give it a go!
I hope so, because that way I could write several thousand novels a year 😉 I was so excited when I discovered flash fiction, then I discovered micro fiction, matchbox fiction and “Twitfic” – fiction for twitter! Pinhead fiction or telepathic fiction may be next 🙂
